Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Scheme (IPTAAS)

The Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS) is a NSW Government scheme providing financial assistance towards travel and accommodation costs.

This scheme is for patients needing to travel long distances for treatment when it is not available locally.

To be eligible for IPTAAS, patients must be:

  • a NSW or Lord Howe Island resident
  • required to travel at least 100km (one way), or at least 200km per week (making multiple trips) for treatment 
  • enrolled with medicare
  • referred for treatment at the nearest approved health service
  • not receiving financial assistance from a third party insurance provider or Australian government service for travel and accommodation
